Judge tosses challenge to ‘race-norming’ in dementia tests
U.S. District Judge Anita Brody of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania has dismissed a lawsuit challenging “race-norming” in dementia tests used to determine which retired NFL players qualify for compensation in a concussion settlement. Brody said the league and the class counsel in the $1 billion settlement should resolve the issue by negotiation. That apparently cuts out the lawyer who sued for Black players, who say the testing assumes that Black athletes have lower cognitive functioning than their white counterparts. That baseline requires Black athletes to show a greater cognitive decline to qualify for compensation. (ABC News, the Associated Press)

West Bay Rotary is raising money for Mid-Coast Recovery Coalition and you can help.
It is a West Bay Rotary tradition that members donate money for charities and nonprofits by putting money into buckets on the table at each meeting. Because they are currently meeting via Zoom, they are now calling these
buckets in cyberspace.
In order to increase donations and help shine a light on nonprofits that they support, West Bay Rotary decided to open this up to the community. As Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta takes over the chairmanship of the East African Community (EAC), his country is locking out maize and eggs imports from two partner states; Uganda and Tanzania.
Last week, Kenya’s department of Agriculture and Food Authority banned maize from Uganda and Tanzania. The reason is failure to maintain the required food hygiene standards. The department’s statement revealed they had discovered high levels of mycotoxin in the maize imports from Uganda and Tanzania that are consistently beyond safety limits.
